[HongKong] A Michelin Dream: Tim Ho Wan Dim Sum Specialist

Yep, you've guessed it. This post is gonna be about food again. Cause who doesn't like food, huh? And Hong Kong is all about delicious and delectable food. Before I went to HK I researched online and came out with a list of cafes and restaurants that I must go to hahaha! This trip is more like a food and shopping trip lolol! 

 Tim Ho Wan (添好运点心专卖店) is a dim sum restaurant that has one Michelin star, earning it the reputation of 'the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in the world'! How wonderful it is to dine at a Michelin star restaurant without splurging too much hahaha! We went to the branch at the Hong Kong station because the Mongkok branch closed down TT

Actually the address stated it is in IFC Mall, so we went there and wandered around but we couldn't find it. Gave up and asked a policeman (yep, a REAL policeman you see in HK dramas!) for directions. They're really friendly and helpful, do not hesitate to ask them for help if you ever got lost! Turns out its in the mtr station itself lol.

Luckily when we went the queue wasn't that long, we managed to snag seats after a 30 minutes wait. I know that some people hafta queue at least 1 hour to get a place!

Baked Bun with Barbecued Pork 酥皮炬叉烧 HK$19 
My advice: eat it while its piping hot! It's crispy on the outer layer, and the juicy BBQ pork inside is totally delicious! First time eating this and I'm pleasantly satisfied! Makes you wanna gobble up all 3 of these hehe

Carrot Cake 香煎萝卜糕 HK$14
Was having breakfast, so this dish strikes us as too oily. Not a fan of this. 

Steamed Pork Dumpling with Shrimp 鲜虾烧卖王HK$24
We ordered 2 of this as we know this is the bestseller of the store! And boy, it did not disappoint! You may not see from the picture but there was a whole prawn inside each of the siewmai! Yes, a whole, huge prawn! If you had eaten before dimsum in Malaysia, with the siewmai being a mixture of minced pork and prawns, you'll know why am I so excited lol. They are just so generous with their ingredients here y'know. The siewmai is chewy yet juicy and delectable. The best siewmai I've ever had so far!

Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce 豉汁蒸排骨 HK$14
Love love love pork ribs! And this dish is perfectly seasoned, with soft and succulent pork ribs. 

Steamed rice roll with shrimp and chives 韭王鲜虾肠 HK$26
Again, whole juicy prawns! Seriously you cannot possibly imagine how gamdong am I eating all these prawns. This is a perfectly simple but deliciously good dish, with juicy prawns drizzled with soy sauce. The soy sauce doesn't come with the dish though, you have to drizzle it yourself to suit your own taste.

Steam Beancurd Skin Roll with Beef and Water Chestnut 美味鲜竹卷 HK$16
Not particularly outstanding. Maybe its because I never had a liking to beancurd lol. Apologies for the blur pic, as my camera obviously don't like it as well wtf.

Steamed Fresh Shrimp Dumpling 晶莹鲜虾饺 HK$24
Another essential dimsum dish, filled with fresh whole prawns. Although simple, it captures the essence of the dish, with the signature translucent thin outer wrapping.

After sampling the dimsum varieties Tim Ho Wan had to offer, I can certainly say that the Michelin Star is well-earned! There are some disappointing dishes such as the carrot cake and beancurd thingy. But that's okay, coz the restaurant's bestseller dishes did not disappoint! And my love for prawns is satisfied haha. Will definitely go back for another round next time! That is, if I ever come back to Hong Kong lolol.

[HongKong] 澳洲牛奶公司 Australian Dairy Company, Jordan

Haven't been blogging in a while, house wifi is quite slow lol! Am back to uni so hopefully won't be swamped by assignments *fingers crossed*

Hong Kong trip was almost 2 months ago and I have not finish blogging about it fml.


Heard about 澳洲牛奶公司 Australian Dairy Company from a friend so decided to give it a try! Went to this 茶餐厅 before we went to Disneyland although it's so out of the way lolol

One thing about chaar chan teng in HK is the attitude of the waiters and waitresses. They tend to be very sarcastic and rude, so please plan ahead what do you want to order and order it quickly. 

Here's the menu on the wall.

For breakfast,

Toast with butter
Eggs 
Macaroni with shredded ham
Coffee or tea (cold add HKD 2)
HKD 28

So cheap right!!
We ordered 2 of the sets and for eggs we chose scrambled, coz the scrambled eggs is what they're famous for!

Mommy did not like it very much as she said it reminded her of her childhood sick food lol. But for me it is good! Maybe because its my first time tasting this hehe

MY GOSH. HEAVEN.
So fluffy and soft yet so delectable! This is the bomb I tell you. The most yummiest scrambled eggs I've ever had.

Steamed Egg White and Milk Pudding HKD 23

This is also a must order! I normally dislike milk, but this pudding is so smooth and silky, and the milk-egg white combination is seriously daebak haha! Cold and yummy, perfect for the hot weather. There's a hot version for this pudding too, if you prefer hot dessert.

Simple but yummy, our breakfast was a blast despite the rush and chaos and sharing tables with a pretty girl in the cafe.

 The queue is normally long in the peak hours, but don't worry as the staff are very efficient and you'll be seated as soon as there's place available. Be prepared to share your table with strangers. We were in a long queue for about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. And once you've finished eating you'll be ushered to pay haha! Everything is very fast paced, true to the nature of Hong Kong.
